Role
As lead designer, I conducted user research, ideated solutions, and directed the end-to-end redesign of the extension.
Process
- Tested an initial prototype with creators to uncover usability issues
- Identified key user needs around affiliate clarity and content linking
- Rebranded and reconcepted the extension to address findings
- Designed new user flows and interfaces informed by research
- Collaborated with PM and devs to build and validate the redesigned MVP
Challenges
- Aggressive 3 month timeline to conduct research through launch
- Limited access to end users due to company's indirect relationships
- Restrictions around extending the extension's data tracking capabilities
- Hesitancy from leadership on diverting resources away from core website
- Challenge incorporating feedback from 5 different internal stakeholders
Result
The extension relaunch significantly improved affiliate visibility and helped creators better monetize content.
Key Contributions
- Pinpointed UX pain points through user interviews and prototype tests
- Dramatically enhanced discoverability and usability through user-centered design
- Led design vision while working cross-functionally to rebuild extension
- Delivered a minimum viable product that succeeded in market trials
In summary, I led extensive qualitative research to uncover usability issues and unmet user needs. My strategic redesign empowered content creators to better leverage our affiliate network.
